Polls show Poilievre's leadership suffering setback –

The Conservatives' considerable lead over the Liberals appears to have shrunk slightly last week, according to a poll by Abacus, which still sees Pierre Poilievre's team well ahead.

The results of the poll conducted for the Toronto Star between December 7 and 12 show a five-point decline for the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) compared to the end of November.

The PCC still has strong support at 37%, ten points compared to the Liberals' 27% and enough to guarantee them the takeover.

Some of the lost support appears to have gone straight back into the hands of Justin Trudeau's Liberals, who have regained momentum with a 4% increase compared to the end of November.

With these new results, the Conservatives are back at the approval level from August.

Nothing has changed on the side of the NDP and Bloc Québécois, which stand at 19% and 7% of voting intentions, respectively. Yves-François Blanchet's bloc remains at 33% of voting intentions in Quebec.

The Greens achieved 5% and Maxime Bernier's People's Party 4%.

According to pollster David Coletto of Abacus Data, while this is a “statistically significant” change, it is still too early to call it a trend per se.
