ASK: Can you explain why Chauncey Billups received both his first and second technical fouls with 15.1 seconds left?
KENNEDY: The first technical foul occurred due to contact while Chauncey was attempting to speak to the referee. He comes into contact with the referee twice, resulting in a technical foul. The second technical foul was assessed due to the fact that Chauncey was now aggressively attempting to follow and pursue the referee after the first technical foul was assessed. So that basically covers those two technical fouls.
ASK: Chauncey said after the game that he tried to call a timeout. Why wasn't he given time off in this situation?
KENNEDY: The referee in the slot position was directing the doubles team that was directly in front of him, making it difficult for number one to hear and difficult for number two to recognize that a coach behind him was calling a timeout. He is taught to direct the play to the end, which results in a double dribble, and correctly calls the double dribble, after which the technical fouls are then called.
