Vatican City – Pope Francis revealed in an exclusive interview with Mexican broadcaster N+ that “he prepared his tomb in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore because of his great devotion to the Virgin Salus Popoli Romani.” The pope also said he was “simplifying the rite of papal funerals.” N+ journalist Valentina Alazraki, who conducted the interview, writes it on X.
The pope also made it clear that he had never considered resigning despite the health problems he experienced this year. “Benedict's example is good for me, but I ask the Lord to be able to say enough at any time, but whenever he wants,” writes Valentina Alazraki on X.
Pope Francis also confirmed that he had received an invitation from Argentine President Javier Milei to visit the country. “What is said in the election campaign comes by itself,” he commented in response to a question from the journalist.
