Pope: There is only one Church, God asks us to be united

(ANSA) — VATICAN CITY, JAN 22 — The Pope launches a call to overcome divisions in the Church. “This is the way that the Church has shown us: all, including the pastors of the Church, are under the authority of the Word of God. Not under our tastes, inclinations and preferences, but under the one Word of God that forms us, converts us and asks us to be united in the one Church of Christ,” he said in the homily at Mass in the Vatican Basilica.

Bergoglio also asked not to waste time “in so many secondary talks”. “Do not profess a generous God, nor be a narrow-minded church; that would be, I dare say, a curse.” “Don’t worry that we preach salvation to everyone and make the way to receive it impassable; knowing that we are called to bring the proclamation of the Kingdom and neglecting the Word, getting lost in so many side activities or so many side talks “. “Let us learn from Jesus – added Pope Francis on the day dedicated to the Word dedicated to God – adding to putting the Word at the center, expanding the boundaries, opening ourselves to people, experiencing the encounter with the Lord and knowing that the Word of God crystallizes in abstract and static formulas, but knows a dynamic story of people and events, words and deeds, developments and tensions”.
