Popular brand sold at Walmart, Target and Amazon recalls more than 300,000 air fryers due to burn hazards

Check your meters! One of America's most popular kitchen appliances is facing a massive voluntary recall after the brand said the device posed a burn hazard to consumers.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Empower Brands is voluntarily recalling two models of the PowerXL Dual Basket Air Fryer.

According to the recall, there were 41 reports of the product breaking during use, including three reports of burns.

According to the recalls, the plastic connector connecting the two food baskets may break, posing a burn hazard.

The recall applies to air fryers with the following designation: PowerXL Dual-Basket Air Fryer models DUAF-10 and DUAF-005.

The 10-quart model DUAF-10 is approximately 17 inches long, 16 inches wide and 12 1/2 inches high and weighs approximately 14 1/2 pounds.

The 9-quart model DUAF-005 is approximately 14 inches long, 13 inches wide, and 15 inches high and weighs approximately 14 pounds.

Both models of deep fryers have a silver label on the front that says “PowerXL”.

Consumers can find a model number on the bottom of each device or on the device's power cord.

The recalled air fryers were sold between August 2021 and October 2023 in black or cinnamon colors and cost between $60 and $190 depending on the model.

The popular brand could be found in stores and online at retailers such as Walmart, Target, Kohl's and Amazon.com.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said consumers should immediately stop using the recalled air fryers and contact Empower Brands for a full refund.
