NEW YORK – New York-based comedian Kenny DeForest has died after an e-bike accident in New York City.

DeForest, 37, was reportedly on a Citi Bike near the intersection of Rogers Avenue and Sterling Place in Brooklyn when he fell and hit the ground, hitting his head.

The accident was originally reported as a hit-and-run, but according to The Guardian, a friend of DeForest said he learned from an emergency services report that it was an e-bike accident.

DeForest was admitted to Kings County Hospital, where he “underwent neurological surgery to remove a piece of his skull and relieve pressure from a brain hemorrhage.”

DeForest died on December 13th.
