The actor, who has more than 1,700 appearances in X movies since the 1970s, has been charged with raping and sexually assaulting 21 victims, including some minors.
Porn actor Ron Jeremy, who is charged in California with the rape and sexual assault of 21 victims, including some minors, has “severe dementia” and will be ruled unfit for trial, according to the Los Angeles Times.
A judge ordered psychiatric tests in March because the actor – who has more than 1,700 appearances in X-movies since the late 1970s – failed to recognize one of his lawyers, Stuart Goldfarb, when he visited him in prison.
Doctors appointed by the prosecution and defense believe he is ill and his judgment is seriously impaired, according to an email obtained by the American daily.
“Pursuant to the approval of the experts, the defendant is declared unfit to stand trial,” explained one of the Los Angeles parquet prosecutors, Paul Thompson, in the email. “If his condition doesn’t improve, we can’t bring him to justice for his crimes.”
Accused of sexual violence against 21 women
Ron Jeremy has long been the subject of allegations of sexual abuse within the profession and has been banned from various events in recent years.
In June 2020, he was charged with raping three women and sexually assaulting a fourth. His arrest and appearance in a Los Angeles court had sparked a fresh wave of complaints against the man in his mid-60s, who has since been jailed.
The oldest facts date back to 1996 and in all, according to the Los Angeles County Attorney’s Office, Ron Jeremy is accused of various sexual assaults on 21 women between the ages of 15 and 51. Ron Jeremy, who pleaded completely “innocent” on Twitter, has pleaded “not guilty” to all of the facts against him.
In June 2020, Me Goldfarb had denied the allegations against his client and assured that he was “not a rapist”. “Ron has been the partner of more than 4,000 women over the years and because of who he is (…) women rush him,” the lawyer told AFP.
