Porn video with his wife, pastor fired in Wisconsin

The president of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse was fired over porn videos he made with his wife. A decision that the couple does not accept: Joe Gow and Carmen Wilson, who support the First Amendment to the Constitution, criticize the university's decision, calling it a senseless “punishment” because the videos showed a married couple and did not involve violence incited exploitation. The Wisconsin University Board of Trustees voted unanimously to remove Gow, president since 2007. “We are disturbed and outraged by his actions,” the board said in a statement, without specifically mentioning the videos. However, many students demonstrated their solidarity online and on campus with Gow, who is considered one of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse's top presidents and professors. “He was a private citizen when he made the videos. “I don’t like that he was punished,” said one student, describing Gow as very popular at the university.

“He was there for everyone. He rode his skateboard around campus and greeted everyone,” he said. “Getting fired for something as silly as porn is ridiculous,” a former university student added. In the videos posted on their YouTube channel @SexyHappyCouple, the principal and his wife never mentioned their connection to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and for more explicit content they always referred to their OnlyFans and PornHub accounts.

“We have this show called 'Sexy Healthy Cooking' where we interview other actors in the porn industry while we cook and try to give them a 'human' face that they otherwise wouldn't have with their work,” Gow explained to the New York Times . With the dismissal, the university “fails to comply with its policies on academic freedom and free expression. “They don’t seem to understand that the First Amendment will be crucial in this situation,” he added. In conservative media, the Gow case is fueling debate about American universities being too liberal. Indeed, what happened at the University of Wisconsin is being compared to the “scandals” at the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard, which were overwhelmed by criticism of anti-Semitism on campuses in the context of the war in Gaza. The three cases do not seem to be connected, but have in common “the important task of educating young people”, they are characterized by a “clear lack of morality” and they are – attacks the editorial team of the New York Post – the “three faces of the same narcissistic nihilism.”
