Pornography in Parliament: British Conservative MP suspended

A British Conservative MP has been suspended by the Conservative Group after allegations he watched pornography on his mobile phone in the House of Commons.

Neil Parish reported to the relevant committee about the allegations, a spokeswoman for Conservative faction leader (Chief Whip) Chris Heaton-Harris said on Friday. Parish will be expelled from the group until the investigation is complete, he said.

The allegations by the members of the Conservative parliamentary group were known this week. Lawmakers said they saw a colleague watching pornography on his cell phone in the plenary. A name was not initially mentioned.

Johnson outraged

Prime Minister Boris Johnson expressed outrage and criticized the alleged behavior as “manifestly unacceptable”. With the UK local and regional elections on May 5, the scandal is a major inconvenience for Johnson.

The 65-year-old parish has been in the House of Commons of the Devon constituency of Tiverton and Honiton since 2010. He chairs the Committee on Environment and Agriculture. Previously, he was a member of the European Parliament.
