Another automaker’s production is suffering due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Carscoops reports that Porsche is suspending all production due to the situation. An internal memo from Porsche was posted on Twitter blaming supply chain issues for the outage.

The outlet has not confirmed the authenticity of the memo, but if taken at face value, it will create problems for customers waiting for new Porsches.

Production of the 911 GT3 and GT3 Touring will be suspended from 17 March. After that, all other 911 production will be stopped on March 31st. Production of the 718 Cayman and Boxster will be suspended on the 14th.

Carscoops says these vehicles will join the Cayenne, Macan, Taycan and Panamera, four vehicles already discontinued.

At the moment, there is no information on how long the pause will last for the newly affected models. However, Porsche says production of the Panamera and Macan is scheduled to resume on March 11.

All this news appeared just a few days after the German manufacturer announced the cessation of deliveries of cars to Russia.

“The German carmaker operates 26 Porsche Centers across Russia and a total of 6,262 vehicles were delivered to the country in fiscal year 2021, a small fraction of the 301,915 vehicles delivered worldwide by Porsche last year. According to Carscoops, the most popular Porsche model in Russia in 2021 was the Cayenne, which accounted for 54% of all deliveries, with 3,431 units sold.

The crisis in Ukraine has had a huge impact on the automotive industry, including skyrocketing gasoline prices across the country.

This is bad news at any time of the year, but especially after the devastating fire aboard the Felicty Ace, a cargo ship carrying many Porsches among other vehicles. While about half of the 4,000 vehicles affected were Audis, Porsche lost about 1,100 vehicles.
