AUSTRIA. Train drivers' union GDL has announced multi-day strikes in Germany that are scheduled to begin on Wednesday. Deutsche Bahn (DB) sees no legal basis for this industrial dispute and intends to stop the strike through an injunction.
In the event of a strike, connections between Germany and Austria could be affected. ÖBB recommends postponing non-essential travel. Tickets for those affected remain valid longer for trips that cannot be postponed.

“We ask passengers to postpone unnecessary train journeys to and from Germany,” the ÖBB urged in a statement on Monday. Detailed information about the strike and the affected connections to and from Austria is constantly updated online and can be accessed via the ÖBB Scotty app and oebb.at.

The Westbahn is currently operating as scheduled to and from Rosenheim and Munich, the company announced in a statement on Monday. A solution to transport affected passengers between Salzburg and Munich on Westbahn trains is also being worked on, in collaboration with ÖBB.
