Powerball jackpot rises to $1.73 billion after there was no winner in Monday night’s drawing

The Powerball jackpot continues to rise after no ticket answered all six numbers correctly to win the $1.55 billion top prize on Monday night.

The huge jackpot is currently worth an estimated $1.73 billion – with a one-time cash payout option of $756.6 million – ahead of Wednesday night’s drawing. It is the second largest prize in the game’s history, behind a $2.040 billion jackpot won in November 2022.

The winning numbers drawn Monday night were 16, 34, 46, 55 and 67 with a red Powerball number of 14. The Power Play option was 3X. According to the game, there is a 1 in 292.2 million chance of winning the top prize.

As the game announced on Monday evening, five lucky winners secured a good chunk of money after matching all five white numbers. Four players – one each from California, Indiana, Oregon and Virginia – won $1 million, while a player in Florida won $2 million by selecting the Power Play option.

The last time a Powerball player won the jackpot was July 19, when a Californian nabbed the $1.08 billion prize, the lottery said. At the time, it was the largest Powerball jackpot of 2023 and the third largest in the game’s history.

Since winning in July, the jackpot has been up for grabs in 35 consecutive drawings. The current run marks the first time in the game’s history that a $1 billion grand prize has been won in a row, Powerball said.

That was behind a $754.6 million top prize won by a player in Washington in February, which now ranks as the seventh-largest prize of all time in the game.
