Pregnant Jennie McAlpine opens up about baby’s gender and reveals she’s expecting Easter

Beloved soap star and pregnant actress Jennie McAlpine revealed that she and husband Chris Farr are yet to know the gender of their unborn child on Friday’s Loose Women.

The 38-year-old Coronation Street graduate, who has played Fizz Stape on the show since 2002, said the couple decided to keep the gender until birth as a surprise.

Although she couldn’t reveal the baby’s gender, Jennie told the Loose Women panel that she would give birth around Easter time.

She said, “You’re going to be my little Easter chick.”

Despite her excitement, she also admitted that she had received some words of warning about being welcome into the world as a third child.

She said: “If you have one it’s nice, two is chaos and three – no one wants to babysit. ‘

“They say chaos doesn’t triple, it just gets more chaotic.”

Alongside life-changing events in her real life, her screen persona recently delighted fans by marrying her on-screen partner Tyrone Dobbs on Christmas Day.

However, the Corrie favorite told the judges she didn’t enjoy filming the wedding scene as she doesn’t like being the center of attention.

She explained her strong aversion to attention is why she and her husband Chris decided to elope in 2017.

She said, “I know this sounds weird as an actress, but I don’t enjoy being the center of attention.”

“Corrie is usually like a big team, but when you’re the bride you feel a little more exposed. I haven’t had a big wedding with a lot of guests in real life and I think an element of it [feeling exposed] played a part in it.”

Although her character Fizz is adored by Corrie fans across the country, Jennie revealed that her eight-year-old son Albert wasn’t impressed with his famous mother.

She joked: “Albert is obsessed with football, if I’m not part of the starting XI then I’m not relevant to him.”

Fizz fans might be disappointed to learn they won’t be seeing many family pictures after the birth, as the star revealed she has deleted her social media accounts.

While she said she had some trolls, she insisted that wasn’t why she deleted it.

She said: “I’ve had a few people make horrible comments, like everyone, but that’s not why I got rid of them.”

“I’ve never liked social media. I never got it and I’m a bit of a bummer with technology… I feel a lot better without it.

Jennie announced that she is expecting her third child on January 2nd.

The actress, who is six months pregnant, said OK! Magazine: “It just feels really good. We are so happy. The thought of adding to our family mix and chaos was the best Christmas present ever! I am really looking forward to 2023 – it will be a special year.”

She explained how she discovered her baby news while enjoying a camping trip with Chris and her kids.

The former “I’m A Celebrity” roommate was nauseous and decided to take a pregnancy test and soon discovered she had had a bun in the oven for about five weeks.

Her daughter Hilda’s name was inspired by the Corrie character Hilda Ogden, played by the late Jean Alexander.

And this time, the soap star has admitted: “I can probably guarantee that whatever name we choose, it’s going to have been a character in Corrie – I don’t know how to avoid it!”

Jennie continued to work during her latest pregnancy and revealed the creative way producers managed to hide her growing baby bump on the ITV soap.

“We started with a mug and then moved on to a handbag and last week, I’m not kidding, a Ford Fiesta!” she said in Lorraine.

She laughingly explained that the producers would ask that a car be moved further down the street just to cover her stomach.

The TV personality added that she only has a few weeks left of filming before she goes on maternity leave.

“Few more weeks of filming, I think this might be my last trip to London,” she said.
