Joe Biden and João Lourenço.
Luanda, November 26 (RHC) Angola’s President João Lourenço will hold talks with his US counterpart Joe Biden in Washington on November 30, official sources reported this Sunday.
According to a press release from the Angolan presidency, the meeting will take place in the Oval Office of the White House and the conversation will focus on bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, climate and energy.
Both leaders will particularly focus on the development of the Lobito Corridor, which will connect Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia.
Thursday’s meeting of heads of state and government “confirms the interest of the two countries in working on the strategic partnership to address regional and global challenges,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, a statement from White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre quoted by Jornal de Angola said that President Biden’s global infrastructure and investment partnership project on the Lobito corridor will be up for debate.
“This meeting will be based on the principles of the United States-Africa Leaders Summit, particularly on how we can continue to work together to address regional and global challenges,” the note continued.
