Preta Gil revealed the painful story of how she discovered the betrayal of her exhusband Rodrigo Godoy while participating in the program De Frente com Blogueirinha. The singer detailed the sevenmonth period in which she was cheated on, admitting that she initially had no suspicions.
Seven months of betrayal
“The guy cheated on me for seven months and I didn’t even know it. I had no idea, I was blind, I didn’t know what it was. I really had a very trusting relationship with him.” “I had no idea,” said the singer.
The infidelity came to light when Godoy’s relationship with Ingrid Lima, Preta’s former stylist, was discovered, which began to arouse suspicion in the artist.
Gave up in the fight against cancer
The diagnosis of colon cancer exacerbated the crisis in the marriage. “Then comes the worst of all, namely the moment of my diagnosis,” reported Preta. According to her, Godoy was absent at critical moments. “He didn’t care about me. I found out about the diagnosis in January, I broke up with him before I discovered the betrayal. He failed me with cancer, he literally failed me. He left, left me at home,” he said.
Amid the problems, Preta counted on the support of friends. “My friends protected me. They came at me with everything. I was abandoned at home. My friends were there, bathed me and gave me food while he was on the street,” he said.
After the breakup, Preta Gil insisted on restoring her identity and removed Rodrigo Godoy’s surname from her documents.
Medical treatment
Preta Gil announced a diagnosis of colon cancer on January 10, followed by a period of treatment that included surgery to remove the tumor. The singer was admitted to the SírioLibanês Hospital in São Paulo on August 16 for the surgical procedure, which, although successful, required a 28day hospital stay. On this occasion, in addition to removing the tumor, Preta underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy, an extensive and complex procedure that lasted 14 hours. On August 22, the artist announced that she was “free of cancer cells.”
The operation left the singer with an iostomy bag, which she will have to remove during another medical procedure. “My second surgery is to remove the bag and reconstruct my intestinal tract. This surgery is easier, but my recovery after it is also delicate and requires a lot of commitment,” he explained.
