Singer Preta Gil, 48, recalled the occasion when SBT presenter and owner Silvio Santos, 92, advised her to look for a doctor to help her lose weight.
While participating in the podcast Quem Pode, Pod, Preta highlighted how people didn’t talk about accepting a fat body back then and she allowed herself to fall into these “traps” that led her to behave against her own fight weight.

Visited professionally by Silvio. In what happened to the owner of SBT, Preta Gil reported that she wanted to join the presenter program and was called to speak to him in the dressing room.
Excitedly, the singer thought she was going to win a show on the channel’s schedule, but was surprised to be recommended by an endocrinologist, who Silvio said would attend and “help” her lose weight.
I have a story I never told. I went to Silvio Santos’ show and then to his dressing room, quite happy, I thought he was going to give me a show on SBT… Then he turned to me and said, ‘I want to give you a wonderful tip’. Then he took a piece of paper, a pen [e falou:] “This is a wonderful endocrinologist, doctor, I’m going to, look, I’ve lost weight, you’ll be fine.” And he gave me the paper.”
According to Preta Gil, she was embarrassed at the time not knowing how to react to this situation and thanked Silvio. But if it were today, I would take the paper and return it.
