Primavera Sound: VIP area floor falls during Travis Scott 11/07/2022 Illustrated

A piece of the floor of the VIP area broke and gave way during Travis Scott’s show at Primavera Sound Sunday night in São Paulo’s Anhembi district. According to the organization, no one was injured.

The event took place in the structure built near the Becks stage, the festival’s main stage, with a capacity for 45,000 people and located in a parking lot in the Anhembi district. The room has been isolated and the VIP area continues to function.

Two women who were present when the floor collapsed said the accident happened during a catharsis triggered by Scott’s concert.

“Everyone jumped and at the end of the show part of the floor collapsed. We walked away and when we were somewhere else we felt that the ground was becoming sensitive again. Security asked us to leave and we left. injured,” says one of them.

“A small 1.5m by 1.5m area in the VIP area was damaged and cordoned off immediately without incident. The VIP area and the festival will continue as usual,” the organization Primavera Sound said in a statement.

The Travis Scott show is one of the main shows this Sunday along with Phoebe Bridgers, Lorde and Charli XCX. The rapper gave one of the liveliest performances of the event, which saw the crowd bouncing, headbanging and lighting torches.

During his show, Scott told the euphoric audience to “take two steps back” to avoid a riot, and security guards even poured water on the audience, rescuing sick fans. The heightened concern has to do with the deaths of 10 people who were trampled on during the rapper’s concert in Houston, US, in December last year.
