  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly want to meet the royal family.

  • According to The Sunday Times, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking for an apology.

  • They are said to support the request for a similar reconciliation meeting held after another scandal.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry want an apology from the royal family – and preferably in person, according to the Sunday Times.

The report comes after the release of the final part of her Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan on Thursday.

In it, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex described the beginning of their relationship and the rift that opened up between them and other royals, including Prince William and King Charles III.

So far, the royal family has remained silent on the couple’s criticism of the royals and royal institution on the show.

Buckingham Palace did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment, while Kensington Palace, representing William, declined to comment.

According to the Sunday Times report, Meghan and Harry wish to have their grievances addressed personally, citing a similar meeting in the same vein.

That meeting dealt with a separate scandal in which a royal aide was accused of racism after he asked a black Brit where she was “really from”.

Royal correspondent Roya Nikkah said the couple saw this as a “double standard” compared to their treatment.

She quoted an unnamed source close to the couple as saying: “Nothing like this has ever been done as Harry and Meghan raised various concerns – no meeting, no formal apology or acceptance of responsibility or accountability. It’s hard to swallow – 100 percent yes, she would love to meet up.”
