Prince Harry attended King’s coronation in a three-piece suit by Dior

Dior have revealed they dressed Prince Harry for the coronation of King Charles – as the king refrained from wearing a military uniform.

The Duke of Sussex, 38, wore a designer suit for today’s event, which he watched from the third row while senior members of the royal family donned their military attire.

The French fashion house announced on its social media channels that it had the “honour” of dressing the king for the event, adding that he wore a custom design by Dior Men’s artistic director Kim Jones.

Harry, who hurried to Heathrow after his father’s coronation where he caught a flight home to California, still had his honors pinned to his suit.

After his father’s coronation, Harry left Westminster Abbey and got straight into a car, which immediately left London and headed for the airport.

Shortly after the coronation ceremony, Dior revealed on social media that Kim Jones was the designer behind the father-of-two’s suit.

“Tailoring for kings. Dior is honored to have Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex dressed in a custom design by Kim Jones for the coronation of King Charles III,” the brand wrote on social media.

“See you arrive at Westminster Abbey and next, get a glimpse of the savoir-faire of his three-piece suit,” he added.

The three-piece suit consisted of a robe, a black vest that Harry wore with a crisp white shirt and a pearl gray tie.

Royal commentators had speculated whether the King would wear a military uniform – after not wearing one at the late Queen’s funeral last September.

The military historian Dr. Peter Johnston told True Royalty TV’s The Royal Beat in April that Harry may be allowed to show a different tribute to his service despite having served two tours of duty in Afghanistan.

“I imagine Harry won’t be wearing a uniform [at the Coronation],’ he said. Even as a veteran who has done two deployments in Afghanistan, he does not wear a uniform.

“I imagine he’ll be wearing his medals, but where he fits into the procession and where he’s going, it’s also likely to be quite similar to where he was at the funeral.”

Discussing Harry’s role in the procession, the historian added that he “will be a part of it, but not necessarily, a [leading] a part of it’.

Harry was expected to quickly rejoin Meghan in Montecito so they can celebrate the birthday of their son Archie, who turns four today.

The Duke is believed to have boarded a British Airways flight to Los Angeles International. The flight time is around 11 hours, which means he could be back in California in time for his son’s special day.

The king’s youngest son beamed from ear to ear as he boarded a black vehicle and made his way back to the airport immediately after the event on Saturday afternoon.

The same car was then escorted by a police motorcade from the capital towards Heathrow.

There was no appearance by Harry or his uncle Prince Andrew on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the day’s finale, although the palace had previously confirmed the former royals had no formal role at the event.

After his father’s service at Westminster Abbey, Harry got straight into a car, which immediately left London and drove to the airport.

It was reported that the Duke had been treated to a post-coronation lunch at Buckingham Palace, which many would have taken to be an olive branch, after his explosive memoir Spare left members of the royal family reeling – particularly his brother Prince William.

Harry had an awkward smile at his father’s ceremony as he was forced to watch the event of a generation from his relegated third row seat – while his siblings took center stage alongside a beaming Kate Middleton.

Harry played no formal role in the day’s proceedings as he is no longer a working king.

However, the Duke seemed keen to put on a jovial display amid ongoing speculation about the royal family’s internal turmoil following the release of his bombshell book in February.

Wearing medals on his suit jacket, he had been spotted laughing and smiling as he entered the church alongside Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice and their respective husbands Jack Brooksbank and Edo Mapelli Mozzi.

He had nodded awkwardly to other guests as he walked down the aisle alone to be seated alongside his cousins ahead of the arrival of his father and the – now Queen Camilla.

Once sitting next to Mr. Brooksbank was a lip reader who heard Hello! The magazine believes the Duke told him, “I’m coming straight to the airport.”
