Prince Harry was spotted at a rodeo in Texas over the weekend despite his wife’s longtime animal rights activism.
The Duke of Sussex, 37, was pictured at a Stockyards Rodeo event in Fort Worth on Saturday wearing a cowboy hat that made the royal look like a local goat.
One attendee exclusively told DailyMail.com that the three who recognized him were shocked that he was there, saying, “This is a typical American event where animals are forced to perform.”
Referring to Harry calling the First Amendment ‘crazy’, the source added: ‘Considering he has such a disrespect for the First Amendment and his wife is such an animal rights activist, it’s shocking that he thought he could show his face here. “. .
“The funny thing is that most people didn’t recognize him or care about him.”
The Duke was spotted at the event without Meghan Markle, the 40-year-old animal rights activist who reportedly talked him out of attending the royal family’s annual fox hunts since 2017.

Many said they were shocked to see Harry at an event where “animals are made to perform”. Meghan, who is a patron of London-based animal charity Mayhew Trust, has often spoken out about animal rights and ending animal cruelty.
Meghan’s aversion to hunting is believed to have first caused problems for the royal family in 2017, when Harry reportedly took part in a boar hunt in Germany.
Realizing that his then-girlfriend “wasn’t happy”, he refused to join the Boxing Day hunt that year and continued to avoid the event in later years.
And in May 2020, it was reported that Prince Harry sold a pair of Purdey hunting rifles worth around £50,000 in a private deal before the couple left the UK for Canada and then moved to the US.
At the time, a friend of the anonymous buyer told The Sun: “He bought them because he wanted them, not because they belonged to Harry, but he was very pleased when he found out about it.”
“These are great examples and he’s very happy with them, but he’s not the type to brag about the royal connection.”
Referring to Harry and his brother William, conservationist Dr Jane Goodall previously told Radio Times: “They hunt and shoot. But I think Harry will stop because Meghan doesn’t like hunting.”
Meghan, who is a patron of London-based animal charity Mayhew Trust, has often spoken out about animal rights and ending animal cruelty.
She’s so into Mayhew that she made a “secret” trip to a cat and dog shelter last January before leaving the UK for Canada.
Rodeo attendees wondered what this meant for Meghan, an animal rights activist (pictured meeting Jack Russell during her visit to Mayhew, an animal charity in January 2019).
The Duchess of Sussex has long campaigned for an end to animal cruelty, and is reportedly whose influence led Harry to stop participating in the royal family’s fox hunting.
Mayhew officials called Meghan a “champion” in animal welfare. She officially attended the charity while pregnant with son Archie in 2019. On her property, she stroked pets and chatted with staff and volunteers.
What is the Mayhew Animal Shelter and what does it do?
Mayhew is a London-based animal welfare charity working to improve the lives of dogs, cats and people in communities in London and around the world.
Founded in 1886, it seeks innovative ways to reduce the number of animals in need through active community and educational initiatives, as well as preventive veterinary care.
He works with charities across London to keep people and their dogs together and runs the Pet Refuge program to provide shelter and care for people in crisis’ pets for short periods of time.
It also educates young people on animal welfare and the importance of responsible pet ownership, and cat and dog shelters.
Mayhew International works with governments, local communities and charitable groups to help improve the lives of animals abroad.
She also made an official visit while pregnant with son Archie in 2019. On its property, she stroked pets and chatted with staff and volunteers.
In 2020, Mayhew’s media relations representative Sata Hastelow told Newsweek that Meghan “has been such an advocate for animals and animal welfare.” It has always been her passion.”
The former actress had two rescue dogs: a beagle named Guy and a Labrador/Shepherd mix named Bogart.
While Guy came to the UK with Meghan when she moved from Toronto to live with Harry and has since been spotted riding with the Queen, Bogart was too old to travel and had to stay with friends.
Before shutting down her social media accounts in 2017, 37-year-old animal lover Meghan frequently used Instagram to promote dog adoptions rather than buying puppies.
She once wrote, “As a proud rescue dog owner, I know from personal experience the joy of adopting an animal into your home.”
Megan added: “The role we as humans play in relocating and saving these animals is vital, but the role of organizations like Mayhew is second to none.”
“What initially struck me about Mayhew was their community-based approach to not only relocating animals, but also preventive care that keeps these cats and dogs from entering shelters in the first place.”
Harry’s appearance at the rodeo came just after he and Meghan attended the NAACP Awards on February 26, where they received the President’s Award at the NAACP Image Awards.
The Duke, dressed in a tuxedo and standing next to Meghan in a bright blue dress, said he was grateful that the NAACP honored him and that he and his wife should be together to help others despite their perceived differences.
Prince Harry’s last major solo performance came last month at the Super Bowl. He is pictured in the Rams’ dressing room after their victory.
“I think it’s safe to say that I have a very different background than my incredible wife, but our lives were connected for a reason.
“We share a commitment to a life of service, a responsibility to fight injustice, and a belief that what is most often overlooked is most importantly heard.”
The couple also paid tribute to the conflict in Ukraine, saying, “We would like to express our gratitude to the people of Ukraine, who urgently need our continued support as a global community.”
