Prince Harry remembers seeing Meghan for the first time

A clip of the Duchess of Sussex sporting a playful canine filter has resurfaced on social media after Prince Harry described seeing her online for the first time.

In his explosive memoir Spare, the Duke of Sussex, 38, tells how he came across a video of Meghan with their mutual friend Violet Von Westenholz and was immediately drawn to her “angelic face”.

“I’ve never seen anyone so beautiful,” he said, saying it felt like a “punch in the throat” for Meghan’s “wild joy.”

Following the release of the royal book yesterday, a royal fan shared a clip of Meghan and her Suits colleague Sarah Rafferty again using the dog filter Prince Harry ahead of an appearance on the Today Show on July 14, 2016, ten days after their second date , on twitter.

In the short clip, Meghan and Sarah are dog-eared and nosed, with long pink tongues smiling as they wag.

Meghan can be heard saying, “We’re on The Today Show” to promote their appearance, where they were discussing the upcoming sixth season of their legal drama Suits.

The video, shared by a royal fan, is believed to have been captured on July 14, 2016, the day the interview aired.

By this point, Meghan had met Prince Harry twice, their second date taking place on July 4 in London.

The video is very similar to the one Harry came across on his Instagram which led to him and Meghan hooking up.

Prince Harry revealed in the couple’s explosive Netflix docu-series, which was released in December, that Meghan was wearing a dog filter when he first saw her.

He also retold the moment in his memoir, Spare.

He said his girlfriend Violet Von Westenholz shared a video of Meghan and her with the dog look on her Instagram, which Prince Harry came across while scrolling the app.

The Duke of Sussex said the short clip stopped him and he kept coming back to it.

“She had an energy, a wild joy and playfulness,” he said. “It was something in the way she smiled, the way she interacted with Violet, the way she looked at the camera. Optimistic. For free. She believed life was one big adventure, I could see that. What a privilege I thought it would be to accompany her on this journey.”

He immediately asked his girlfriend who she was and asked her to give Meghan his Instagram name.

When the Duke of Sussex recounted the moment in the couple’s Netflix documentary, his wife giggled and said it was “ridiculous”.

“Oh god isn’t that all, it’s got like dog ears,” said a laughing Meghan, before Harry added, “That was the first thing I was like, ‘I was like, who is that?'”. His wife continued, “This is ridiculous.”

Harry sent their mutual friend a message and they mentioned it to Meghan, who followed the prince’s Instagram feed to see “what he was up to”.

However, Harry and Meghan have previously claimed they met on a blind date. In 2017, Harry told the BBC: “It was definitely a set-up – it was a blind date. It was definitely a blind date.’

Viewers questioned the variation, with one person writing on Twitter: “Harry and Meghan have remarkably poor recall of the lies they told.”

During the segment, Meghan also revealed the email their mutual friend had sent her, which read: “Between you and me I thought you might like to know this is newly single and all.

“I put our snapchat on Instagram and Prince Haz follows me (he’s a friend), he called me last night to meet you. I might just need to set you up,” the message added.

Meghan admitted she asked to see the royal’s social media feed: “So that’s the thing. People say, “Did you google him?” “No.”

“But that’s your homework. They say, “Hmm, let me see what their feed is about, not what someone else is saying about them, but what they are posting about themselves. That was the best barometer for me,” she explained.

“Then we got each other’s numbers. We just kept in touch and I said, “Let’s meet up,” Harry added.

A friend of Meghan’s named Silver Tree said Meghan texted her saying, “Silver, you won’t believe this. And basically told me she was dating him. We found it really funny. Like “What world is this happening in?”.
