  • Prince William took his wife Kate on a surprise ride in a Bond-esque Aston Martin
  • The DBX707 has a top speed of 300km/h and is the first car to be built in Wales in 50 years
  • Comes after William’s outfit drew comparisons to 007 at the Earthshot outfit

Prince William got his thrills license when he gifted Kate a ride in a James Bond-style Aston Martin, which he was given for a weekend test drive.

The Prince of Wales reportedly took his wife on a secret drive around Norfolk in an Aston Martin DBX707 – from the automaker loved by Ian Fleming’s 007.

This comes after the Duke of Cambridge’s outfit of a velvet tuxedo with black bow tie drew comparisons to the secret agent at his £50million Earthshot prize.

With a top speed of 193mph, the £189,000 Aston is the fastest SUV in the world and the first production car to be built in South Wales in more than half a century.

The four-year-old South Wales factory provided around 1,000 jobs to produce the fast car.

Bond has driven four different Aston Martins throughout the secret agent franchise, but the DBX707 has yet to appear in any of the films.

The handover of the SUV was “hush-hush” and was kept secret enough for the agency to conduct the operation, a Sun insider told the Sun.

But after the delivery, Wills was seen zooming through winding country lanes in North Norfolk, they added.

It was reportedly “no coincidence” that the car that the Prince of Wales took for a spin was built by Welsh workers in Wales.

The prince was allowed to drive the car all weekend, but instead of ejecting and dumping the car into a river like 007, he returned the keys after his test drive.

William’s love of Aston Martins is not new. At his wedding in 2011, William drove his new wife in a vintage Aston decorated with balloons in the colors of the British flag as they drove away from Buckingham Palace.

The prince was also considered to take on the role of Daniel Craig’s Bond after producer Barbara Broccoli joked he was the “perfect candidate” after he gave her a CBE in July.
