Princess Charlotte’s ‘curious’ smile with Beatrice shows ‘deep bond’

Princess Charlotte’s smile with Princess Beatrice during Prince Philip’s memorial service showed the couple share a “deep bond,” a body language expert claimed.

The six-year-old royal dazzled everyone with her impeccable behavior at her great-grandfather’s memorial at Westminster Abbey in London yesterday.

At one point, the little queen cast a sideways glance at her second cousin Princess Beatrice, 33, and the couple exchanged fond smiles.

Body language and behavior expert Darren Stanton told FEMAIL the shared smile shows a great relationship between the two, saying: “It was fascinating to see how Beatrice felt Charlotte’s gaze in her direction and it suggests that the two definitely share a deep bond. ‘

The two royals were previously snapped friendly at Princess Eugenie’s wedding, while Princess Beatrice’s young stepson Wolfie is a similar age to Princess Charlotte.

Darren said: “During the service, a really beautiful moment happened between Charlotte and Beatrice.

“Charlotte was seen looking over her shoulder to try and catch Beatrice’s gaze – almost immediately Beatrice smiled.

“It’s clear from her over-the-top and mischievous smile that Charlotte thinks highly of Beatrice, she wants her attention – it suggests the two share a fantastic friendship.”

He added: “Princess Charlotte charmed the Archbishop of Canterbury and beamed for the world’s cameras.

“It was clear that the future king’s sister had been in top form all day.”

Charlotte’s father Prince William and Princess Beatrice are separated when they were just six years old and were close friends when they were younger.

And while Beatrice’s daughter Sienna is still a baby, her five-year-old stepson Wolfie is much closer to Princess Charlotte in age.

As one of the bridesmaids to Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, Princess Charlotte has spent a lot of time with the two sisters in the past.

Beatrice was seen leading the little flower girl to church service in October 2018, with the couple exchanging smiles outside St George’s Chapel before the event.

During yesterday’s service, Princess Charlotte stole the show as she joined her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Cheeky Charlotte charmed the Archbishop of Canterbury and smiled at photographers as she made her grand entrance at Westminster Abbey.

At one point, the schoolgirl princess pulled a funny face after apparently spotting herself on a screen, prompting viewers to giggle at her “sparkling” personality.

Darren, speaking on behalf of Slingo, added: “Charlotte is the more curious of her and her brother George.

“While both sat very obediently next to her parents in the church, Charlotte was seen looking around at everyone.

“No doubt she takes in the grandiose and overwhelming surroundings, she’s probably too young to realize what’s at stake.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made the decision to bring their two eldest children to Westminster Abbey to pay their respects to their great-grandfather, Prince Philip.

The service is one of the most important outings to date for the two young royals, who were both close to Prince Philip before his death aged 99 last April.

Also in attendance were Peter Phillips’ daughters Savannah, 11, and Isla, 10, and Mia Tindall, eight-year-old daughter of Mike and Zara Tindall.

But it was sparkling Charlotte who was the center of attention as she entered the abbey hand in hand with her mother Kate.

As they neared the abbey’s doors, Kate – who was smiling – said to her serious-looking daughter, according to expert lipreader Jacqui Press: “You can smile”. Charlotte then smiled.
