Priscilla Presley reveals why she never married again after Elvis

Priscilla Presley never found a greater love than her ex-husband Elvis Presley.

The actress, who was married to the late singer from 1967 to 1973, opened up about why she never married again during a question-and-answer event at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas on Friday.

“To be honest, I never wanted to get married after him. “I never felt like it,” she explained, according to People. “No one could ever compete with him.”

While Priscilla, 78, did not directly confirm the long-standing rumor that she would never marry again while Elvis was alive, she said he would have been heartbroken to see her with someone else.

“I just don’t think he can handle it,” she added.

“Elvis felt like he had a very busy schedule and he felt a bit guilty about not being there as much when Lisa was younger,” she explained.

“Because of his schedule and touring, he just felt like he wasn’t around enough to give much attention to the birth of another child.”

Elvis died of a heart attack at the age of 42 – four years after the duo called it quits in 1977.

According to a biopsy obtained by People, he had several prescription medications in his system at the time of his death.

Last week, Priscilla recalled learning of the King of Rock and Roll’s tragic death during a “TalkTV” interview with Post columnist Piers Morgan.

She said she was told the devastating news during a phone conversation with one of Elvis’ managers.

“I can still hear Joe Esposito saying, ‘Cilla, Elvis is dead,’ and it was like I just never imagined him, especially at his age and stuff, so young and wanting to do and doing so much a lot planned, and not having him, not talking to him, not having him be the father of our child,” Priscilla explained, according to People.

“My big fear was Lisa, and how am I going to tell her,” she continued. “She was only 9 years old at the time.”

Priscilla is expected to be buried alongside Elvis and her daughter in the Graceland Meditation Garden in Memphis, Tennessee.

Lisa Marie died on January 12 after suffering cardiac arrest due to complications from a small intestine blockage. She was 54.

Reflecting on the death of her only child, Priscilla recently described the loss as “unbearable.”
