(CNN) – Priscilla Presley opens up about why she never remarried after six years of marriage to Elvis Presley.
During a question-and-answer event on Friday at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas, Presley told the crowd that she just felt like she couldn’t get married again, according to People.
“I just don’t think he can handle it,” she said of her late ex-husband, who died in 1977.
“To be honest, I never wanted to get married after him. I never had the desire,” she added. “No one could keep up with him.”
The two were married from 1967 to 1973. The new film “Priscilla,” directed by Sofia Coppola, examines how the former couple met and became friends in Germany in 1959, when Presley was 14 and Elvis was 24, before later marrying.
Presley also spoke about his daughter Lisa Marie Presley, who was born in 1968, saying the singer felt guilty about not being close enough.
“Elvis felt like he had a very tight schedule and he felt a little guilty about not being there as much when Lisa was younger,” she said, adding, “With his schedule and his tours, he had “I just felt like it wasn’t him.” enough time to pay close attention to the birth of another child.
