Priyanka Chopra reveals 7-year-old Nick Jonas watched her win Miss World

Priyanka Chopra opens up about the moment her husband Nick Jonas first saw her — and way earlier than anyone expected.

Or at least according to the lore of the Jonas family.

On Thursday’s episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, the Citadel star opened up about winning the Miss World beauty pageant for India as a teenager.

“That was in London, and that was November. In July I had turned 18 – a perfect child. I had no idea what I was doing or what this world entailed and I didn’t have much practice,” she said. “But apparently my mother-in-law was like, ‘I remember watching you when you won.'”

The actress expressed that at first she was confused because his family was living in Texas at the time.

“I thought, ‘There’s no such thing as that,'” she explained. “She said, ‘I remember it so clearly because it was November.’ [At the time] Nick was on a Broadway show when he was 7 and his brother was on a Broadway show when he was 8 or 9 years old. And she said: “I remember it clearly because Kevin Sr. (my father-in-law) loves to watch beauty pageants and he – I remember – saw it, and Nick came and sat and watched you win .'” Chopra added that the idea of that was “unimaginable” because “that was 22 years ago or something.” He was 7. I was 17. And he sat there and watched … It was like that strange.”

When Hudson commented that the story sounded like “destiny,” Chopra agreed.

“I believe people are meant to be together for the duration of their lives,” Chopra said. “And I think people clash because — in this small, short life that you have — you’re supposed to create memories that you can carry on.”

She added, “And I think throughout our lives Nick and I have had these weird, enchanted little moments.”

Chopra and Jonas tied the knot in 2018. Last year, the couple announced that they gave birth to their first child, Malti, through surrogacy.

She told Today in April that while Kismet was on her side, she didn’t give the Jonas Brothers singer much of a chance at first, “because I was like, ‘He’s 25 years old, he’s a rock star.'” I want to marry. I want to settle down. I want to have a baby.’ I was 35 at the time.”

She continued, “I wanted stability and didn’t give Nick enough credit until I went out with him on our first date. We spent the whole evening together and I realized that my husband is such an old soul. He is stability in human form.”
