The pro-Russian mayor of a city in the East Ukraine who welcomed the president Vladimir PutinThe invasion was “shot” after she was abducted from his home, they said.

Vladimir Struk of Kremina in Luhansk was killed on Tuesday and received a “gunshot wound to the heart” after being “kidnapped from his home”, according to his wife.

The Luhansk People’s Republic is a self-proclaimed breakaway state located in eastern Ukraine, founded in 2014 by pro-Russian separatists.

The adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine claims that Mr. Struck “was tried by the court of the People’s Tribunal” and called him a “traitor”.

He also claims that Ukraine has not been able to “do anything with Struk in the last eight years” since Moscow-backed separatists control the southeastern Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk – commonly known as Donbass.

Mr. Gerashchenko wrote on social media: “One traitor to Ukraine has become less! Vladimir Struk, a former member of the Luhansk regional council and head of the OTG in Kreminetsk, was found dead.

“In 2014, he was an active supporter of the People’s Republic of China. Then he left for a part of Luhansk region free from temporary occupation [and was] he was twice elected head of the Kreminetskoí OTG.

“In the last week, he actively took a Russian position, agitating OTG deputies to communicate with the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China – gathering deputies on this issue.

“On March 1 [there] it was his wife’s statement that he had been abducted [from persons] unknown in camouflage form. The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the heart.

He added: “The entire state apparatus of Ukraine, the SBU, the Interior Ministry, the prosecutor’s office and the courts have been unable to do anything with the outspoken separatist Strukom for eight years because he had a lot of money. Most likely support from the Russian Federation.

“But when Russian troops approached 15 kilometers from Kremini, Vladimir Struk was convicted by a court of the People’s Tribunal. Judging by all, [he was] shot by unknown patriots as a traitor to the laws of war.

“When we soon defeat fascist Russia, we will clean up and relocate all law enforcement officers and corrupt judges who covered up like Struk!”

Confirming the news, Twitter user Ukraine War News added: “Kremenets OTG chief Vladimir Struk, who welcomed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, has been found dead. He was an active supporter of the so-called “LPR”. And after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he actively called on local lawmakers to cooperate with the Russians.
