The 32-year-old man was arrested on December 15 by the Sûreté du Québec's Gatineau Major Crimes Investigation Unit. He appeared at the Saint-Jérôme courthouse on the same day. He is accused of sexual contact, incitement to sexual contact and enticement while in authority over the victims, some of whom were minors at the time of the events, an SQ news release said.

According to the Journal de Montréal, Kevin Parent was a secondary school social studies teacher at Lavigne High School in Lachute in the Laurentians. He was also a basketball coach.
The crimes he is accused of were said to have been committed between 2012 and 2023, i.e. over a period of more than ten years.
Mr. Parent is active on Facebook, Messenger and TikTok applications and could have caused further casualties, the SQ estimates.
In addition, given the number of victims, the Structure for the Management of Serial Crime Investigations (GECS), coordinated by the Sûreté du Québec, was put in place. “This is a unified command structure in which Quebec police services work together to quickly identify and arrest crimes committed by predators,” the SQ press release said.
