Kelly Piquet, the daughter of former Formula 1 driver Nelson Piquet, a notorious Bolsonarist who has repeatedly uttered racist phrases and defended a coup by the farright, goofy expresident, is receiving death threats on social media. The reason? According to the model, who is currently in a relationship with pilot Max Verstappen, her politicalideological positions are progressive and in her social networks she openly defends the Palestinians who are being massacred by Israel’s bombings.
“I can’t stop thinking about all the pain, suffering, trauma, shock and despair that the Palestinians in Gaza are experiencing right now (…) I imagine all these young innocent souls being lost , entire families decimated, children without parents, and parents who had to hug their dead children (…) I also think of all the hostages that are in the hands of Hamas, and I am happy that four of them were released. But the pictures and videos I have seen of the horrific events in Gaza are incomprehensible to me,” wrote the daughter of the threetime racing world champion.
From then on, a flood of attacks and threats from Brazilian and foreign Internet users flooded the profile of the young woman, who nevertheless did not hold back and reiterated her convictions about what was happening in the Middle East.
“Instead of sending me private messages containing death threats, extremely offensive language and obscene images, unfollow me. This is not a conflict, it is a genocide (…) My number of followers or business agreements are not more important than a life that can be saved by trying to stop this. And neither does yours,” Kelly added in one of the releases.
