Protocol actions begin in Panama for Motherland Month

In the capital, the Passport Authority, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture and the Ministry of Culture attended the main celebrations to commemorate the Founding Fathers and their legacy for national sovereignty.

The Head of the Cultural Department, Giselle González, specified that the ceremony will also include the participation of the Fire Department of Panama, the Metropolitan Region, the Lyra and Drums Band of the La Salle School and the Saxophone Group of the National Border Service.

Previously, the Presidency of the Republic had personally announced an intensive evening program for the first time after two years of Covid-19.

According to the statement, Head of State Laurentino Cortizo and other authorities will host the central acts and parades in the provinces of Panama, Colón and Los Santos, also in the districts of La Chorrera, in this capital and in Boquete (Chiriqui).

Activities begin on November 2nd, All Souls’ Day, with the traditional pilgrimage to the Amador Cemetery in El Chorrillo, with flower offerings in the mausoleums for Dr. Manuel Amador Guerrero (the first President of the Republic) and for the Soldiers of Independence. .

On Thursday, November 3, to commemorate the 119th anniversary of Panama’s separation from Colombia, activities will begin at 05:00 local time with traditional targets at the Palacio de las Garzas (Headquarters of the Executive) and the hoisting of the National Insignia .

On the same day and on Friday 4th, the patriotic parades will take place in the main arteries of Calle 50 and Cinta Costera of this capital.

On Saturday, November 5th, Cortizo will travel to the Caribbean island of Colón for planned activities, including the inauguration of a new building for the administration of the largest free zone in the region and a solemn meeting of the municipal council.

The President will also be at the Villa de Los Santos power plant on November 10 to commemorate Panama’s first cry of independence from Spain.

On November 27, the head of state will preside over Panama’s 201-year independence from Spain in the capital’s La Chorrera district.

The official acts in a nod to Fatherland Month and Panama’s independence from Spain will end on November 28, when Vice President José Gabriel Carrizo will preside over scheduled ceremonies in the Boquete district of Chiriquí province.

An editorial in the newspaper La Estrella de Panamá calls on Panamanians to thank those who left their mark in all these commemorations in defense of nationality and share the legacy of a free, sovereign, democratic homeland with tolerance and social justice for all to maintain.
