Purple as the sea rain of criticism on the debut

“Purple as the sea”, rain of criticism on the debut. Also for Can Yaman

After months of waiting, the time has finally come: The first episode of the fiction aired Purple like the sea, which sees Can Yaman and Francesca Chillemi as protagonists. The first TV series on Canale 5 recorded good results in terms of ratings, but the same cannot be said for the opinion of the viewers, who were not entirely convinced by the debut.

Purple like the sea: Can Yaman is not convincing

All summer we watched the commercials of the series, we read the news and got fascinated by the gossip that wanted a flirt between Can Yaman and Francesca Chillemi to blossom on the set. On the viola come il mare series Expectations were very high and the expectation grew as the months went bysince the fiction was supposed to air last spring (and then was pushed back to the fall).

The debut of the new fiction starring the former Miss Italy and the Turkish actor did not disappoint the network. bring home great plays: Viola and Francesco Demir’s events have attracted 3,400,000 viewers with a 20.40% share. Among others, Mediaset’s fiction had to compete with Tale and Quali Show, the popular variant of Rai 1, which it only surpassed by a very small amount with 3,380,000 viewers and a 21.10% share.

The numerous fans of Can Yaman They couldn’t wait to admire their loved one on the small screen, for the first time in a role played entirely in Italian. It is a pity, however, that expectations were disappointed: obviously, the Turkish actor’s acting level was not appreciated at all by the audience, who rejected his interpretation.

“Can Yaman is worse than a soap opera actor. He only does TV because he is the handsome man of the moment‘ one user wrote after seeing the star in this new TV product on Channel 5. “Slap in the face of meritocracy, there will be at least 150 best Italian actors!” echoed another commenter on social media.

Purple like the sea: is it already rejection?

In order not to convince the public, in addition to the – according to users – poor acting skills of the actor, there would also come the resemblance (and the comparison perhaps a little too merciless) with another fiction that aired a few months ago on Rai and was born by the same production agency, the Lux Vide. We’re talking Blanca, the 2021 reveal series that has viewers glued to their screens (and seems set to continue with a second season).

One has the feeling of actually standing in front of something already seen: the events of Blanca – a blind girl who makes her disability a strong point in solving cases – are very reminiscent of those of Viola and her synesthesia, the spontaneous and uncontrolled Superimposition of other senses, which allows the protagonist to associate certain colors with people’s emotions and help her in her search for the killer.

But maybe it’s still too early to fail quite the fiction of Mediaset: the debut will not have been exciting for some, but judging by the reviews we certainly can’t call it a flop. We’ll have to wait for the next episodes – and the next Auditel dates – to know Viola’s fate as a sea.
