On February 24, the Chinese Foreign Ministry released a document outlining Beijing’s position on a political solution to the situation in Ukraine.
The document contains 12 points, including calling for a ceasefire, respecting the legitimate interests of all countries in terms of security, combating the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and the exchange of prisoners of war between Moscow and Kiev.
It also expresses the refusal to impose unilateral sanctions without a corresponding decision of the UN Security Council.
In the text, China described dialogue and negotiations as “the only way to solve the crisis in Ukraine” and called on all parties to support Moscow and Kyiv in “moving towards each other” and in resuming direct dialogue soon .
In conclusion, Beijing stressed that the international community must create the conditions and provide a platform for negotiations to resume.
