Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Kyrgyzstan on a state visit, making his first trip abroad since an international arrest warrant was issued against him. Putin arrived in Kyrgyzstan, news agencies in both countries reported this morning.

The Russian president is expected to meet there with his Kyrgyz counterpart Sadyr Japarov and participate in a summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Putin is also expected to attend a gala to mark the 20th anniversary of the opening of a Russian military base in Kyrgyzstan. Several former Soviet republics are united in the CIS.
