Putin kills Ukrainian ballet star: World-famous dancer Artem Datsishin dies three weeks after being wounded by gunfire

The leading star of the Ukrainian ballet has died after being shelled by the Russian occupiers, infuriating one of the biggest names in Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre.
43-year-old Artem Datsishin spent almost three weeks in the hospital, fighting for his life.
The world-famous star, Honored Artist of Ukraine, was wounded in Kyiv two days after the start of the Russian invasion.

“On February 26, the Russian military fired at him,” said friend Tatyana Borovik.
“He was badly wounded and died in the hospital.”
Datsishin played leading roles in Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Romeo and Juliet.
He toured Europe and the USA.
Datsishin was a famous dancer who performed at major shows in Europe and the USA.
His dancing style was marked by “academic expressiveness, romantic elation and psychological depth”.
His funeral took place today in Kyiv (FRI).
His death by Russian fire drew the ire of one of Moscow’s biggest ballet names, choreographer Alexei Ratmansky, former artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet.
“I am furious,” he said, adding that Datsishin’s death at the hands of the Russian occupiers had caused “unbearable pain.”
His dancing style was marked by “academic expressiveness, romantic elation and psychological depth”.
“Artyom Datsishin, soloist of the National Opera of Ukraine, died today in a Kiev hospital from wounds received on February 26 when he came under fire from Russian artillery.
“He was a great dancer who was loved by his colleagues.
“Unbearable pain”.
Hundreds of Ukrainian civilians, including more than 100 children, have already been killed since Russian troops invaded the neighboring country.
In response to Russia’s actions, US President Joe Biden called Vladimir Putin a “war criminal”.
