The Russian leader says it is “unlikely” that relations between Russia and the US will improve regardless of which president is elected in 2024
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this Tuesday (September 12, 2023) that the criminal proceedings initiated against former US President Donald Trump are a “political revenge” that illustrates the “rottenness of the North American political system”. The Russian head of state is in Vladivostok for the Eastern Economic Forum. The information comes from the Associated Press agency.
“As for the allegations against Trump, what is happening under today’s conditions is, in my opinion, good for us because it shows the depravity of the American political system, which cannot pretend to teach democracy to others,” he said in one Talk the forum.
Putin claimed that the lawsuits filed against the Republican were a demonstration of persecution for political reasons carried out “in front of the public of the United States and the whole world.”
In February, Trump said he had a “very good” relationship with the Russian president during his tenure in the White House. The Republican also said that he could resolve the war in Ukraine in a few days if he were to return to the presidency of the United States.
“We hear Mr. Trump saying he will resolve urgent issues within days, including the Ukraine crisis. This will only make us happy,” Putin commented this Tuesday (September 12). However, the Russian leader said the weakened relationship between Washington and the Kremlin was unlikely to improve, regardless of the outcome of the 2024 US presidential election campaign.
“What awaits us in the future, no matter who the president is, is difficult for us to say, but it is unlikely that anything will change radically,” he said.
Accusations against Trump

In March, the Republican was indicted in connection with an alleged $130,000 payment to porn actress Stormy Daniels. The money was allegedly given to her during the 2016 presidential campaign so that Daniels would not reveal an alleged extramarital affair with the former president. Trump pleaded not guilty to all charges.
