While his teammate Fernando Alonso finished second on the podium, Quebec’s Lance Stroll had to settle for 11th place at the Dutch Formula 1 Grand Prix.
“We didn’t have the race we were hoping for today. [dimanche]. “The changing weather made it difficult to find the right strategy and we made the wrong decisions on the early laps,” said the Aston Martin driver, whose comments were reported on his stable’s website.
The race was marred by three rain showers and one stoppage. The tires chosen by Stroll and his team proved to be wrong early on.
“It’s disappointing that we weren’t able to streamline things for Lance,” said Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack. The decision to stay on slicks robbed him of a chance to score points.
“I got stuck and couldn’t go any further. “It’s disappointing considering the car performed well,” added Stroll. I think we could have done better, but that’s part of motorsport. We will learn from our mistakes of the day and come back strong in Monza.”
The big F1 circus travels to Italy next weekend, where Stroll finished third in 2020. At that time he worked for the Racing Point team.
