A man “gone mad” has been arrested on a flight between a popular holiday destination and one of Australia’s busiest airports.

The man had to be restrained by cabin crew after he allegedly attacked an employee on Qantas flight QF46 between Bali and Melbourne.

The airline confirmed that an incident occurred during the flight in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A witness said the man “went crazy” on flight QF46, which left Denpasar on Saturday evening and landed in Melbourne shortly before 7am on Sunday.

After the plane landed, Australian Federal Police officers boarded the plane and interviewed the 28-year-old Victoria man before he was taken for a medical examination.

“The AFP will continue to investigate the incident,” a spokesman said. No charges have been filed at this time.'

A witness posted footage on social media that showed the man being pinned to the ground and surrounded by flight attendants, one of whom was kneeling on his back.

“He was still tied up after four hours.” Everyone is safe. What a damn flight!' said the witness on Instagram.

He said staff made an “amazing” effort to keep the passenger under control.

Other passengers said the man was agitated before the incident and was screaming and shouting.

Qantas said the safety of its customers and crew is its top priority and the company will not tolerate disruptive or threatening behavior.
