The Texas A&M quarterbacks had more yards rushing than throwing at halftime in today’s Maroon & White game, which kinda gives you a clue as to how things were going at the position. Part of that was thanks to a strong wind that blew in from the south but also spun onto the field at times and affected all the passes. Another factor was that the receiving corps had a repeat of last year’s game when there was a series of dropped balls on their side. As a result, none of the trio of third years Haynes KingLSU transmission Max Johnsonand Five Star Newcomer Conner Weigman really good enough to stand out from the other two in terms of starter nomination.
Although I think most people were focused on the quarterback fight, there were a number of individuals who played well today and commented that they’re going to be very, very good players for the Aggies in the fall… and some of them These were guys we haven’t seen much of yet. If you had to pick a most valuable player, it would easily have a second year on the defensive end Tunmise Adeleye. Adeleye lined up both inside and out, being a handful to anyone who needed to block him (as we’ll discuss later).
Especially with so many injured players missing and more than half of the country’s top recruiting tier on the way, the squads were relatively depleted compared to what we’ll see in August. Like many quality teams at the moment, the Aggies don’t seem to run very deep, but looks can be deceiving… and knowing this, it’s obvious that based on what we’ve seen and the people coming on board, it’s for the best is yet to come for Texas A&M’s football program.
