When the authorities were called to intervene at this address for reasons that are still unclear, they discovered two victims who showed signs of violence. However, the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) is not disclosing the type of weapon used to cause the injuries.

“Unfortunately, a 19-year-old young woman has been confirmed dead. We also fear for the life of a 16-year-old young man,” says Marie-Pier Rivard, spokeswoman for the SPVQ.

According to our information, the two victims belong to the same family. However, it wouldn’t be a family drama.

Another crime scene set up less than a quarter mile away on the corner of 26th Street and Maufils Avenue would also be linked to the tragic event. A minivan was found to have crashed into a residence following what appeared to be a violent collision.

A feeling of insecurity

While most neighbors contacted by Le Journal say they were unaware of the tragedy, some are beginning to fear for their own safety.

“It’s really shocking. Under these circumstances, it’s human to worry,” sighs Karim Lioui, who lives a few steps away.

This is actually the second murder in Quebec in less than three days and the sixth since the beginning of the year. Many of these occurred in Limoilou.

“Lately I feel like I’m in danger in our neighborhood. […] I have installed two surveillance cameras with alarm systems and we take the time to lock our doors,” says Mohamed Gabbouj, who lives near the victims’ house.

Although they cannot yet reveal the nature of the attack, the police want to provide reassurance.

“The murders in Quebec remain isolated events. But we take the files very seriously,” emphasizes Marie-Pier Rivard.
