Quebec City police arrested a 36-year-old man Thursday on charges of child abduction, assault and theft.
According to SPVQ, the suspect entered his ex-wife’s home in the Limoilou sector around 11:30 am.
He would then have left with the victim’s baby and cell phone. Calling 911 made it possible to learn these few details.
Several police vehicles and investigators were quickly called to locate the suspect and the baby. However, the Amber warning was not issued. The information was leaked to the media around 7 p.m.
The suspect’s car was eventually located in the Saint-Sauveur area. The baby has since been found in an apartment in the area. The suspect was also arrested a few meters from this location.
The 36-year-old remains in custody and will appear in court on Friday.
The SPVQ highlighted the exemplary work done by the police, but also the speed with which the child was located.
Nobody was hurt.
