When fall is around the corner, I always look forward to reconnecting with comfort food. And to top off my cravings, there’s a steaming bowl of macaroni and cheese! A new meeting place in Loretteville offers fans a true Eldorado: a bar Macaroni and cheese decadent.
It only took me a few bites to fall in love with the ultimate comfort food prepared by Super Super Team, which just opened on Racine Street.
The macaroni is creamy, runny and tastes like cheese. Even though the bowl seems small, the portion is just perfect. There are around ten topping options, such as hot dog sausage, smoked meat, merguez, vegetarian chili, Nordic shrimp or mushrooms in white wine. After much hesitation, I finally decided on some really tasty little grilled meatballs.
“The toppings make it magical,” says Stéphan Doe, one of the co-owners, along with his partner Brigitte Raymond Lebleu, with infectious enthusiasm.

The two cooking enthusiasts conducted numerous tests to find the perfect cheese blend. Without giving away all the secrets, Brigitte did tell me that they use extra sharp orange cheddar (for color), mozzarella and Gruyere cheese.
Shortly before serving, the macaroni is heated again in its vacuum packaging. That changes everything: no need to go into the oven or into a kettle that could dry out the pasta.
“This is the optimal way to warm it up so that it is perfect,” explains Brigitte. Their concept was developed for the opening of their kiosk at Jean-Talon Market in Montreal in May 2022 and the mac ‘n’ cheese was all the rage.
A pusher enjoy your meal
Super Super is an unusual brand with an unusual design, created by Francis Léveillé, a former graphic designer at La Presse and ex-colleague of Stéphan Doe, who gave up his job as a photographer and videographer in the media to make a living from his culinary passion.
It is also a deli that sells homemade preserves, artisanal cold cuts, marinated meats and ready-to-eat gourmet products.

So, like me, you can go with the famous barbecue meatballs or try the chive cretons, the duck confit, the foie gras or the veal parmesan polpette. Psst: There’s also juicy BBQ chicken, only available on Friday afternoons. In summary, it is a good food pusher!

“Everything we do, we have tested and when we offer it for sale, in our eyes it is perfect,” says Stéphan. And we believe that our cuisine will attract people, that is the bet we are making.”
Why did you choose Loretteville? Their partners in this project, Nicolas Légaré and Manon Cambefort from the ADEL slaughterhouse in Bas-Saint-Laurent, owned the Nicky Sushi, previously located in this location, and the accommodation above.
Stéphane and Brigitte took advantage of the opportunity and moved their lives and children from Montreal to Quebec to open this store that they had dreamed of since launching the Super Super brand in 2017.
The couple places particular emphasis on quality. For example, the meat sold and cooked on site comes from the ADEL slaughterhouse.

“It costs a little more, but in the end the customer wins because they eat grass-fed meat,” argues Stéphan, whose cuisine is inspired by chef Martin Picard. “I like his approach of doing things that comfort and calm us.”
I warn you: Super Super is a place you can’t go to just once!
