Quebec Region Evacuations and Monitored Flows

In Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval, 90 homes in the Île Enchanteresse sector were evacuated. About 200 affected citizens were referred to the disaster relief center on Rue Kildare, said the municipality’s general manager, Marc Proulx. A situation that brings back bad memories since the island was flooded in December 2020.

In Quebec, a dozen homes on rue des Trois-Saults in Beauport were evacuated. A resident was also evacuated and treated by the Red Cross in the Avenue des Sablonnières area, reports David Poitras of the Quebec City Police Service.

The Montmorency River rose significantly throughout the day and should continue to do so into late evening.

The level of the river also rose so much that certain streets in Old Quebec were flooded.

Under surveillance

In Lac-Beauport, the population is being asked to prepare for the risk of flooding along the Yellow River.

Residents of areas prone to flooding should remove their vehicles from those areas. Parking is available at the community center.

In Saint-Raymond, the Sainte-Anne river is also monitored, but there are currently only minor floods. The next two days will be decisive because it is not the rain that is worrying, but the fact that the lakes are stagnating in the north, specifies the mayor of the commune, Claude Duplain.
