Queen Elizabeth II was reportedly angry at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after they claimed to have received their blessing for their daughter's name Lilibet.

According to the Chron, a royal aide claims in the upcoming biography “Charles III: New King. New dish. The Inside Story” that the late monarch was “as angry as I've ever seen her” after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex publicly said they had received permission to use her childhood name for their second child.

The couple's representatives did not immediately respond to Page Six's request for comment.

The new revelation comes more than two years after a palace insider told the BBC that Queen Elizabeth – who died in September 2022 – was “never asked for her opinion on Lilibet's naming” before the little one's birth in June 2021.

“A palace source tells the BBC that the Queen was not asked by Meghan and Harry about the use of her childhood nickname; Harry had reportedly asked the Queen for permission to name the newborn “Lilibet”; But a palace source says the Queen was 'never asked,'” said BBC royal correspondent Jonny Dymond tweeted by the time.

However, royal sources confirmed to Page Six that Harry, 39, called and spoke to his grandmother after Markle, 42, gave birth at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

However, another insider added: “It will probably have been a phone call saying she's arrived and we're planning on naming her after you – that's not really something you can say no to.” I doubt that they asked – rather informed.”

The Sussexes announced the arrival of their little girl in a statement, writing: “She is more than we could have ever imagined and we continue to be grateful for the love and prayers we have received from around the world.” Many Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”

They added: “Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty the Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen in honor of her beloved late grandmother, the Princess of Wales.”

Notably, days later, Buckingham Palace celebrated Lili's birthday in a statement on behalf of the royal family.

“The Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are pleased with the news of the birth of a daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” a spokesman said.

Prince William and Kate Middleton added in a tweet“We are all delighted with the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili. Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie.”

In addition to Lilibet Diana, now 2, Harry and Markle are also parents to son Archie Harrison, 4, who was born in May 2019.
