The Jeroen Pit House in Amsterdam took two years to build, with some aspects of its construction delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The house was supposed to open in February but finally opened its doors this week, with Maxima doing the honors.
Built around a communal kitchen and living room, the house aims to make the transition from the hospital to the home easier for the children and their families.
In addition to providing shelter, home staff will educate parents on how to cope with life at home with chronically ill children.
