Queen pays tribute to Prince Philip’s death anniversary

Queen Elizabeth has marked the first anniversary of her husband Prince Philip’s death with an emotional tribute.

Those of the royal family official twitter account released a video consisting of a photomontage of the prince about his long life. Including photos of him as a baby, as a dashing naval officer, with his four children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Perhaps most touching was an old photo of Philip leaning over his wife’s shoulder, their faces close together.

It ended with a recent black and white photo of the Duke tipping his hat as if to say goodbye.

Accompanying the poem “The Patriarchs – An Elegy” by Poet Laureate Simon Armitage was read.

“In memory of His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh on the first anniversary of his death,” read the caption. It also included a link to learn more about the prince’s “life and legacy.”

On April 9th ​​it will be exactly one year since the Duke of Edinburgh passed away at the age of 99. He was married to the Queen for 73 years.

Last month, the royal family attended a memorial service honoring the late prince, not without breaking news.

The Queen was escorted to the Thanksgiving service at Westminster Abbey by her son Prince Andrew – who was recently stripped of his military ties and HRH styling.

Prince Charles also recalled his father’s death on Instagram, sharing three photos including a sweet photo of the Duke pushing a young Charles and Princess Anne on a swing.
