Raab travels to the World Women’s Conference in New York

Minister for Women Susanne Raab (ÖVP) is traveling to the US next week. The occasion is the 67th session of the UN Commission on Women’s Rights in New York, which Raab will attend tomorrow and Tuesday. The theme of this year’s conference is “Innovation and Technological Change and Education in the Digital Age for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of All Women and Girls”.

Tomorrow afternoon, the Minister for Women will make a speech during the general debate. On the sidelines of the conference, which begins tomorrow and lasts until March 17, Raab will meet with Icelandic Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdottir, Singapore’s Minister of Family Affairs, Sun Xueling, and representatives of UN organizations, according to his ministry.

As part of her visit to New York, she will also introduce about 10 people with Austrian citizenship and open an exhibition on Hedy Lamarr at the Kulturforum, she said. It is of great importance that the theme “Women in Technology” is widely debated at this year’s conference, because bringing more women into technical and higher-paying professions is also a focus of its policy on women, Raab said in a previous statement.
