Rachid Badouri will play at a festival in Los Angeles

Rachid Badouri’s “international conquest” continues. After recording his show for Netflix last summer, the comedian is part of the impressive poster for the Netflix Is a Joke Festival that will take place in Los Angeles in May 2024, notably accompanied by Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Ali Wong, David Letterman, Kevin Hart and Sarah Silverman.

The line-up for this second edition of Netflix Is a Joke Fest is enough to make any other comedy festival green with envy – we're thinking of Just For Laughs, of course. Launched in 2022, the Californian event will bring together all the world's biggest comedy stars from May 2nd to 12th.

Seth Rogen, John Mulaney, Jim Gaffigan, Trevor Noah, Jeff Ross and Ronny Chieng will join the aforementioned names among the approximately 300 shows presented at 35 facilities across Los Angeles.

We also notice the name of a well-known local comedian on the poster: Rachid Badouri. We know that the comedian has recently made contacts with Netflix, who recorded his latest tour, Les fleurs du Carpet, for the streaming platform Just for Laughs last summer. The show should be available next year.

English language ambitions

After becoming friends with Ronny Chieng a few years ago, Badouri also opened for the latter at Just For Laughs during his show at the Olympia in Montreal. In an interview with Le Journal in July, Badouri made no secret of his ambitions to break into the English-speaking market.

At the moment, we don't know where the Quebec comedian will be performing during Netflix Is a Joke Fest. But we see that the festival does not lack ambition. The event will notably include eight evenings at the iconic Hollywood Bowl with a seating capacity of 17,500. Among the guests in this open-air amphitheater: Seinfeld, Burr, Mulaney, Rogen, Silverman, Hart and Noah.

Other popular venues used during the festival include The Forum, Hollywood Palladium, The Greek Theater, Troubadour, Laugh Factory and The Comedy Store.
