MANAGUA, March 31 (RHC) – The Nicaraguan government opposed every resolution passed against the country at the United Nations Organization (UN) Human Rights Council, it said in a statement.
“We do not accept any resolutions, updates or reports on human rights in Nicaragua because they lack objectivity and are marked by a well-defined political and interventionist bias,” the text stresses.
The document states that the reports contain only the voices of some minority sectors, defined within the framework of the major imperialist powers’ policies of intervention, without taking into account the assessments presented by the Sandinista government.
She also calls for these resolutions not to be focused or based on media campaigns of disinformation and hate.
“We urge that the true defense, promotion and development of human rights that this international organization must promote is the application of the same, in full harmony with respect for the identity, sovereignty and historical development of each country, without losing track of the Universality of human rights,” affirms the document.
The report also highlights the public policies developed by the government of Daniel Ortega and Vice-President Rosario Murillo, aimed at protecting the well-being of an entire people, despite aggressive and illegitimate sanctions by the United States and the European Union .
The Sandinista government reiterated before the aforementioned international organization that the Central American nation has never been, nor will be, a danger, let alone a threat, to any country in the world.
“Our struggle is for justice and equality, which allows us to affirm that these spaces are not used by harmful sources to apply unfair unilateral, coercive and illegal measures to Nicaragua, which are the ones that really constitute crimes against humanity. ‘ confirms the statement.
With this in mind, he demanded that the Council, in all its actions, fundamentally respect the principle of non-interference and equal treatment of all states that are part of the universal human rights system.
The UN Human Rights Council passed a resolution this Thursday that will set up a group of three experts to investigate possible human rights violations in Nicaragua since April 2018.
