Ramallah, March 30 (RHC) Palestinians held various marches this Wednesday to commemorate the country’s day, which commemorates the general strike 46 years ago against the dispossession of large areas of the Galilee, the suppression of which resulted in the deaths of six people.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh said in a statement that the country is the identity and center of the Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation and its expansionist ambitions.
Our people will not budge an inch in this struggle, and we will accept nothing less than the establishment of our independent state on the pre-war borders in June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, he stressed.
Shtayyeh condemned the policy of double standards and called for international sanctions on Tel Aviv for its systematic crimes.
For its part, the Palestinian National Council called for the country to be defended against Israeli occupation.
He also criticized the forced evictions, the demolition of houses, the application of racist laws and the murders and arrests by the occupiers.
As part of the activities, numerous trees were planted in Jericho governorate in the West Bank, while in the Jenin refugee camp, thousands of people marched to the cemetery to lay wreaths for the Palestinian martyrs.
In the Gaza Strip, leaders of various organizations and thousands of people with Palestinian flags gathered in the city of the same name to commemorate the date.
During the activity, balloons were released bearing images of numerous dead victims of Israeli attacks.
On March 30, 1976, the Israeli military killed six Arab Israelis during massive protests against the expropriation of thousands of hectares around the towns of Arraba and Sachnin. (Source:PL)
