NEW DELHI, 30th March (RHC) – Mexico’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcelo Ebrard visited Minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal in New Delhi on Wednesday to seek greater cooperation in traditional medicine .

Mexico’s Foreign Minister is leading a delegation that is discussing various aspects of cooperation in the field of traditional medicine and Ayush systems (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy), according to the website of the state press information office.

Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal highlighted the longstanding friendship and warm relations between India and Mexico, stating that both countries share similarities in terms of geoclimatic conditions, biodiversity, physiognomy and people, culture and family values.

Today, Ayurveda, or an alternative traditional medicine system from India, is recognized in more than 30 countries around the world and its acceptance is growing rapidly.

Indian Ayurvedic products are exported to more than 100 countries around the world, the headline reads.

Recently, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Indian Ministry of Ayush signed an agreement in Geneva to establish the WHO World Center for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat State, India, which will promote research and development of traditional medicine.

Sonowal said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, India has been working to curb contagious diseases through the large-scale intervention of Ayurveda and other Ayush systems.

More than 140 research studies have been conducted, including multi-center clinical trials, and drugs like Ayush 64 are widely used to treat COVID-19, he said. (Source: Latin Press).
